Yesterday, I joined a despedida party for our dear friend Karen who's leaving for Manila on August 22. Karen is one of the choir members who is not an outstanding singer at all but who is always there during practices and masses. She is from Iloilo and was assigned here in Cagayan de Oro for work. We spent a simple dinner together and everybody gave their thank you's and goodbyes to Karen whose commitment and sincerity to the community was greatly appreciated as everybody seemed to be short of. After dinner, we proceeded to videoke (ktv) to continue the event for the night. It was a nice experience going out with different friends, not my usual company at the choir. I learned to mingle with them, sing with them and shout with them. It was really fun and somehow strengthened our bonds.
